Headliners.

These things are news:

1) School has started. I feel lazy and tired in my classes because I work nights. I work nights giving people food that can kill them if they eat too much. I give them food that I refuse to eat when they are very VERY high. They make me laugh because we listen to the same music and I serve them wearing a Nixon mask sometimes. I do not wear that mask at school.

I wear a Jimmy Carter mask at school.

2) My mother is getting married, about which we are thrilled. My father and his NW (new wife) are having a baby. My dad will be 50 next year, which means that I'm old enough to be that baby's momma. I'm old enough to take that baby onto day time T.V. and demand a paternity test. Which is creepy and weird. I'm very VERY baffled by the whole thing.

I feel very sorry for the baby.

3) I will be moving to Eugene with a couple of sex goddesses. They are so gorgeous that I want to shout and grin like an idiot, because if we walk down the street together the world will stop. Brenna and Heidi, I love you to death. And I will call you back very soon. My phone was in my car.

I miss the green dress.

4) This summer, I hope to have a job in Corvallis working painting and maintaining road signs. I'm an advocate of nepotism because Mum's fiance works at the Transit center and is using his clout to pull some strings so I may be employed. It pays 4 dollars more per hour than my current job, which I'll be able to keep and make MORE money, because I'm greedy and demand the ability to support myself.

I'm scared that I won't be able to hold myself up for very long.

These things are news. And they are important to me. It's an odd little life I live. And I will one day shout STOP THE PRESSES! and throw down my note pad in a flurry of floating papers.

Your current job stinks! (I am jumping to conclusions)

Go watch the new Star Trek and tell me what the hell you think. I am ignoring the part about babies and family because babies and family are not things that are on my mind when I have just watched Spock and lasers. Sorry about that :)

(but it's pretty fucked, I'll give you that)

I watched the new Star Trek and was thrilled to the point of not even exhaustion and a crumbling relationship could dampen my spirits. I have some serious old Vulcan crushes on Leonard Nimoy.

Who was your favorite character?

God, I don't know... Karl Urban delivered a much better Bones than I'd ever expected. And Quinto is spot-on as Spock - perhaps technically the best performance in the movie. But my nod goes to Chris Pine as Kirk. What an act to follow... the legend, the cheese, he nails it all and adds a very personal touch. He IS Kirk. Even to a nerd like me. It's not a case of Shatner vs. Pine for me, like, you know, who is the best Bond or whatever. They're both the character. I did not think I would feel this way.

Oh, and the movie has already made like 80 million bucks in profit - pure profit - so we will be seeing this team in action again. There can be no doubt.

Anyway.

I do not like this notion of things crumbling. For you, things should be building. They should be blossoming.
